Vocabulary Building Workshop

On Friday, 21st February, ChildRaise conducted a Co-curricular workshop on Vocabulary Building. In this workshop, we focused on Adjectives and their use. Having a strong and effective vocabulary is a great advantage.

The aim of this workshop was not just teaching what are adjectives, but how to use different adjectives aptly. We had a lot of fun with the group discussions, the worksheets, and an interesting craft activity. This workshop was conducted by ChildRaise Remedial Educator Amruta Veer.

Purple Day Competition

Due to COVID 19, we preponed the celebrations of Purple Day for Epilepsy Awareness & held a painting event for children before the lockdown was announced.

Our Efforts at Fundraising

As the world is under a cloud of a pandemic, United Way Mumbai, the philanthropic partner of TATA Mumbai Marathon has initiated a special

Ganesha Making Competition

This year's Ganesh Utsav was different. There were no Sarvajanik Ganesh mandals, people visiting and taking darshans of their favourite deity Ganapati, singing Ganesh aarti. So we thought of this event where our students will make Ganesha idol, decorate it and worship at home with devotion.

Workshop on Finance Management

ChildRaise Trust in association with MFA (My Financial Advisor) organised a workshop on Managing Family Finances for parents with Special needs. We all know how important this topic is.We thank Chitra Iyer of MFA & Milin Shah for this informative and much needed workshop.

'Sanjivani' Medicine Project

Feeling very satisfied that the ChildRaise project Sanjivani has taken off and 25 students with Epilepsy and developmental disability have been provided Anti Epilepsy Medicines. The students are from BMC Special schools supported by Urmi Foundation. We are grateful to Urmi Foundation for carrying out the epilepsy medicine distribution to respective parents. Here in the pic we can see parents receiving the medicine packets.

Under the ChildRaise Sanjivani Project, we went to an organisation in Andheri who had referred Kunal's case to us.We gave Anti Epilepsy Medicines(AEMs)to Mukesh Vaghari, father of Kunal, our beneficiary to receive epilepsy medicines. We hope with continuous supply of AEMs , Kunal's seizure frequency will decrease.

Under the ChildRaise Sanjivani Project, we are supporting 25 students with Special Needs for Anti Epilepsy Medicines(AEMs). Our heartfelt thanks to our donors who have donated towards the Sanjivani Project. This project is close to our heart because unless the seizures are controlled, the learning can not take place. Often due to expensive treatment, these AEMs are not purchased and the seizures continue. These students with special needs are learning Activities of Daily life, Functional Academics in BMC run special Schools and Urmi Foundation takes care of their Special Education Needs. Thanks Sonalee Shyamsundar & Urmi Foundation Team for so painstakingly segregating their medicines and delivering them to the parents at convenient spots so they could collect them. We fervently hope that these AEMs help our children and their education continues.

Epilepsy medicines need to be taken absolutely regularly without fail as prescribed by the neurologist twice or thrice a day depending on the severity , frequency of the seizures. We at ChildRaise are glad that parents of these children who have severe epilepsy will be spending this Sunday less worrying at least about procuring anti epilepsy medicines for their children. Usually when we distribute anti epilepsy medicines at any diagnostic camp, the first stage is the direct on site assessment or reassessment by a neurologist to assess whether the person's seizures are controlled with the AEDs he/she is on. If they are not then change the medications and see the results. But now with the pandemic scene, we have to skip this initial stage because of travel restrictions and minimum physical contact. So what we do is to call up the parents, ask them about child's seizure control , if there is any need to change the medication then get in touch with the neurologist, get the revised prescription online. Till sometime back, parents could come to us. That was necessary for them to get counselling, educational guidance etc. but now considering the lockdown, we are couriering the medicines to parents and providing telephonic counselling & support. We can't express our satisfaction when we receive calls from parents thanking us from the bottom of their heart.
Below are two beneficiaries of Sanjivani Project.

Grocery Distribution in association with Project Mumbai

As we are all aware this pandemic has affected the whole world but it has impacted some people very gravely. Am talking about People with Disabilities who are severely affected. Project Mumbai founded by Shishir Joshi has started many unique initiatives. People donated one time use plastic & groceries were bought by them & these were distributed to needy so no one is hungry. We are grateful to Project Mumbai for providing grocery kits so we could distribute to people with challenges.

Diya Painting

This Diwali was different. There were no crackers, no shopping for new clothes, no visiting your relatives, friends . So many restrictions. But when the kids enthusiastically gathered to paint the diyas which we got for them , we could only see their sparkling eyes. We could not witness their wide smiles as all of them were wearing masks but all said & done they could not mask their happiness for sure as they took back the colourful diyas as memento.

ChildRaise online Inclusive Event
